Investing in Reliability: Well 1A Replacement Project Underway

At Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water District, we’re working around the clock to deliver safe, reliable water and that means replacing aging infrastructure through our ongoing Capital Improvement Program (CIP).

One of our major efforts is the Well 1A Project at our 12th Street and Palm Avenue Facility. Originally drilled in 1936, Well 1 is believed to be the oldest well in the Beaumont Basin and has reached the end of its service life. Well 1A is its modern replacement and is designed to strengthen our long-term supply system and meet growing community needs.

While the project has experienced delays due to staffing transitions, pandemic-related impacts, supply chain issues, and increased statewide drilling demand, drilling is now complete and we’ve entered the flushing and connection phase.

🛑 Here’s what you may notice in the area:

  • Temporary traffic control on Palm Ave from 11th Street to 12th Street
  • A temporary stop sign (per City request) to support safety during construction
  • Special care to prevent water from impacting Stewart Park’s remodel during flushing
  • Sound barriers were used during drilling to reduce noise in nearby residential areas and will be moved to the next drilling site soon

“Projects like Well 1A are a direct investment in our community’s future” stated Board Vice President Lona Williams. “Every upgrade strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality water, even during emergencies or peak demand. The Board remains committed to supporting critical infrastructure that protects public health and supports growth.”

Summer’s Here—And So Are Higher Water Bills (If You’re Not Careful!)

With warmer days and longer evenings, it’s no surprise that water use tends to climb in the summer. At Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water District, we want to help you stay cool without letting your water bill heat up.

🌿 Outdoor watering, especially sprinklers and landscape irrigation, is the biggest source of increased summer usage. Even small changes like running sprinklers longer or watering more frequently can add up quickly.

đźšż Indoor habits can shift too! Longer showers, extra loads of laundry, and more frequent use of water to stay cool can all contribute to higher bills.

Here’s how you can keep usage in check:
âś… Water landscapes early in the morning or late evening to reduce evaporation
âś… Check for leaks and broken sprinkler heads
âś… Use a broom instead of a hose to clean patios and driveways
âś… Keep showers short and sweet
âś… Track your usage using your water bill or online tools

Consumer Confidence Report

Our Water, Your Trust: 2024 Annual Water Quality Report Now Available

At Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water District, your health and safety remain our top priorities. We’re proud to announce the release of our 2024 Annual Consumer Confidence Report, which details the quality of the water we provide to more than 22,000 service connections across our 28-square-mile district.

This year’s report confirms that BCVWD’s water met or exceeded all state and federal drinking water standards during the most recent sampling period. Through hundreds of tests conducted throughout the year, we’ve continued to uphold the highest standards of water safety, stewardship, and service.

“Our community deserves to know exactly what’s in their water and how it’s managed,” said Board President Daniel Slawson. “We take this responsibility seriously, and this report demonstrates the integrity and transparency of our water quality practices.”

Some highlights from this year’s report include:
âś… Successful recharge efforts in partnership with the San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency
âś… Expansion of our Noble Creek Recharge Facility Phases I & II
âś… Replacement of aging water pipelines to reduce system loss
âś… Continued water sampling for safety and regulatory compliance
âś… Smart meter updates and system modernization planning

Board Member John Covington added: “Every test, upgrade, and improvement reflects our commitment and moral duty to deliver clean and safe water that our community can count on. This report is a reflection of the work BCVWD’s staff does year-round to protect both public health and our local water future.”
