Supporting a Sustainable Future: EV Charging Infrastructure at BCVWD

The Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water District is currently working on the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the District’s Administration Building as part of ongoing efforts to support operational readiness, sustainability, and long-term planning.

This project supports state requirements for public agencies to begin transitioning a portion of their vehicle fleets to zero-emission vehicles. In preparation for this transition, the District is installing Level 2 EV charging stations that will allow staff vehicles to charge safely and efficiently on-site.

While the charging stations are still under construction, this project reflects the District’s commitment to planning ahead and investing responsibly in infrastructure that supports both operational needs and broader environmental goals. The improvements will help ensure the District is ready to support new fleet vehicles while maintaining reliable service to the community.

The project also demonstrates collaboration across departments. District staff are completing portions of the work in-house, helping control costs while ensuring the site is restored properly and safely.

“As the District prepares to transition part of its fleet to zero-emission vehicles, it’s important that we also invest in the infrastructure needed to support that shift,” said BCVWD Board member David Hoffman. “Projects like the installation of EV charging stations reflect thoughtful planning by staff and a commitment to operating responsibly. The Board supports these efforts because they help the District meet future requirements while maintaining reliable service and being mindful of how public funds are used.”

As work continues, the District will share updates as appropriate and remains focused on maintaining safe facilities, reliable operations, and responsible use of public funds.
