Replacing Infrastructure as Prevention

One of the best ways to provide reliable water service is to replace aging infrastructure before it becomes a problem. Proactively replacing older pipelines helps reduce the risk of water main breaks,

minimizes unexpected service interruptions, and improves the long-term reliability of the District’s water distribution system.

The District continues to make steady progress on its 11th Street and American Avenue Replacement Pipeline Project. Water quality samples are currently being collected for the newly installed 11th Street

pipeline. If testing confirms the system is ready, crews will begin connecting the new pipeline to the existing water system before completing service connections and final paving.

Once work on 11th Street is complete, construction will continue along American Avenue, replacing additional aging water infrastructure and extending the benefits of the project to neighboring customers. These two projects were planned together as part of the District’s ongoing Capital Improvement Program to modernize critical infrastructure and improve long-term system reliability.

“Maintaining our infrastructure before it reaches the end of its useful life is one of the most effective ways we can provide dependable service to our customers,” said BCVWD Board Director Daniel

Slawson. “These investments help reduce future disruptions while protecting the reliability of our water system.”

Replacing underground infrastructure isn’t always visible once construction is complete, but it remains one of the most important investments the District makes. As these improvements continue,

customers can expect a stronger, more reliable water system designed to serve the community well into the future.
