Protecting Our Water and Our Community
Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water District is proud to support Senate Bill 394 (Allen), an ACWA-sponsored bill co-sponsored with Las Virgenes Municipal Water District, recently signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom.
This important legislation strengthens local water agencies’ ability to protect against water theft, especially from fire hydrants, and ensures that those who tamper with or divert water are held accountable. It also gives agencies the tools to recover damages and prevent repeat offenses, safeguarding both our infrastructure and our community’s shared water supply.
We extend our sincere thanks to ACWA and Las Virgenes MWD for their dedication and advocacy in bringing this legislation forward. “As a District, we depend on ACWA’s advocacy to ensure that the voices of local agencies are heard in Sacramento,” stated BCVWD Board President Daniel Slawons. “Their leadership on bills like SB 394 helps us protect our resources and the customers we serve every day.”
ACWA plays a vital role in protecting the interests of California’s public water agencies and the communities they serve, working tirelessly to shape state policy, advocate for sustainable water management, and promote fair, science-based regulations that keep water safe, reliable, and affordable.
