National Preparedness Month

National Preparedness Month is here! September is a reminder to prepare for emergencies, and this year’s theme, “Start a Conversation,” encourages us to discuss disaster preparedness with our loved ones.

At Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water District, we know how essential water is in any emergency. Being ready means having a plan and enough water for your family. Start today by discussing ways to stay safe and make sure water is part of your emergency kit. Visit Ready.gov for multilingual preparedness toolkits and resources to keep you, your family, and your community safe.

Water Conservation

Water is one of our most precious resources, and every drop counts! Here are some easy ways to conserve water every day:

  • Fix leaky faucets and pipes – even a small drip can waste up to 20 gallons a day.
  • Use a broom instead of a hose to clean driveways and sidewalks.
  • When using your dishwasher or washing machine, make sure to run full loads. This maximizes water efficiency and reduces the number of cycles you need to run, saving both water and energy.

Together, we can make a difference in preserving our water supply for future generations. Let’s all do our part to conserve water, one drop at a time!

Extreme Heat Alert

As temperatures soar, it’s crucial to stay hydrated and conserve water. During extreme heat, water demand spikes, but it’s important to use water wisely. Here are some tips to help you beat the heat while conserving water:

• Water your lawn early in the morning or late in the evening to reduce evaporation.
• Take shorter showers to save water and energy.
• Keep a pitcher of water in the fridge instead of letting the tap run until it’s cool. Let’s work together to stay cool and conserve water during these hot summer days!

Back to School with Water Conservation

As you prepare your children for the new school year, don’t forget to include water conservation in your routine! Teach your kids these simple habits to save water:

  • Turn off the tap while brushing teeth – this can save up to 8 gallons of water a day!
  • Pack a reusable water bottle instead of buying plastic ones.
  • Encourage them to report leaks at school or home to an adult.

By making these small changes, we can all make a big impact on our water supply. Let’s start the school year with a splash of sustainability!

Throwback Thursday

Did you know F.P. Sigler from the Southern California Investment Company recorded his first subdivision in 1887 that later became the City of Beaumont? He dreamed to build a system of water lines for the purpose of developing subdivisions throughout the Beaumont and Cherry Valley area. Now, BCVWD is proud to turn this and many other visionary dreams into a reality

“As we reflect on our history, we are reminded of the importance of visionary leadership. Our current leaders are committed to making a positive impact on our community for generations to come.” – Daniel Slawson, BCVWD Board Vice President
