Project Update: Well 2A Replacement

The replacement of Well 2A is an important investment in the reliability of our water system. The project is currently on hold until test pumping and pump design for Well 1A are completed. While this process has experienced delays due to equipment issues, work is moving forward, and construction on Well 2A is expected to be complete by Summer 2026.

đź’§ Why this matters:

  • The original Well 2 reached the end of its service life.
  • The replacement Well 2A will strengthen system redundancy and improve long-term reliability.
  • This project represents a major capital investment to ensure safe, sustainable water for our community.

“We know that infrastructure projects like Well 2A are not just about pipes and pumps, they are about people,” shared BCVWD Board President Daniel Slawson. “While this project has faced some setbacks, the end result will provide long-term benefits for the entire community. The Board is committed to making smart, lasting investments in our water system to serve generations to come.”

We appreciate the community’s patience as this critical project progresses, and we look forward to sharing updates along the way.

National Preparedness – Conservation

In an emergency, every drop counts. đź’§

Here are ways to conserve water when supplies are limited:

  • Prioritize drinking and cooking first.
  • Use hand sanitizer or wipes to save stored water for hydration.
  • Collect rainwater (if safe to do so) for sanitation needs.
  • Reuse water for tasks when possible (ex: rinse water can be used to flush toilets).

National Preparedness

September is National Preparedness Month, and it’s the perfect time to start conversations with your loved ones about being ready for emergencies.

💧 At Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water District, we know that water is life, and it’s one of the most critical resources to plan for during disasters. Whether it’s an earthquake, wildfire, or extended power outage, having a supply of clean water is essential to keeping your family safe and healthy.

Here are a few water preparedness tips you can use today:

  • Store at least 1 gallon of water per person, per day, for a minimum of 3 days (don’t forget pets!).
  • Rotate your stored water every 6 months to keep it fresh.
  • Keep a small supply of bottled water in each family vehicle.
  • Learn how to safely shut off your household water in case of a broken line or contamination.
  • Practice water conservation during emergencies by using stored water first for drinking and cooking, and only secondarily for hygiene.

“Water is the foundation of preparedness,” stated BCVWD Board Member John Covington. “In an emergency, clean water is not guaranteed—it’s something we must plan for. That means storing water, knowing how to conserve it, and thinking about the needs of every family member, including pets and those with medical devices. Talking about it today ensures we are all better prepared tomorrow.”
