BCVWD Receives Recognition For LIHWAP participation.

In August 2024, Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water District (BCVWD) received recognition for participation in a County of Riverside (County) program called the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP). The program was available from June 2022 to March 2024, and by participating, the District helped provide critical financial relief to customers struggling to keep up with their utility bills, particularly those impacted by the economic effects of the pandemic.

As a result, many residents were able to avoid service disconnections, reduce overdue balances, and maintain continuous access to safe water.

During the program period, Customer Service processed $46,698.48 in payments through LIHWAP, assisting 150 account holders avoid disconnection of service. Additionally, during the same timeframe, Customer Service assisted 218 customers with payment plans totaling $148,930.08. These plans helped customers with large or past-due balances maintain water service while still fulfilling their payment obligations.

Although LIHWAP ended in March 2024, the County continues to work with legislators to secure funding at the State and/or Federal level. District staff continues to work with customers who may be struggling with their bills through payment plan options.
