Staying Informed: State’s “Making Conservation a California Way of Life” Regulation

The State Water Resources Control Board is moving forward with a statewide regulation called “Making Conservation a California Way of Life.” This program would set long-term water-use efficiency standards for all California urban water suppliers. These standards are determined at the agency level, not for individual households or businesses.

As the State develops this regulation, water agencies across California, including BCVWD, are continuing to evaluate how the proposed changes may affect future water supply planning and operational costs. We know many customers have questions about how statewide regulations may impact communities like ours, both now and in the long term.

Residents who would like to learn more or provide input directly to the State Water Resources Control Board may do so using the public contact options provided by the State:

To read more about the State’s proposal, visit the Water Boards’ information page:

BCVWD will continue to monitor the process and keep our customers informed as additional information becomes available.
