Innovation in Action: Heli-Hydrants Are Here!

BCVWD was proud to join regional partners on June 12 at the ribbon-cutting for the first of seven life-saving Heli-Hydrants, developed by the San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency (SGPWA) and funded through the American Rescue Plan Act with support from Supervisor Dr. YxstianGutierrez.

These innovative tank-based systems allow helicopters to refill with water in under 10 seconds, which is a critical advantage during wildfire response. As fires like the Wolf Fire threaten our communities, these new tools help ensure a faster, more effective defense.

👏 We commend SGPWA for their vision, leadership, and commitment to regional safety. BCVWD is proud to support and partner in efforts that strengthen emergency response and protect our residents and resources.

“The Heli-Hydrant project is a shining example of what can be accomplished when regional agencies come together for the good of the community,” said John Covington, BCVWD Board Member. “We’re proud to support forward-thinking solutions like this that prioritize safety and resilience.”
