Promoting a Water-Wise Future — One Garden at a Time
BCVWD was proud to support the recent Water-Wise Gardening Workshop hosted by our regional partner, San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency (SGPWA). With nearly 40 engaged and enthusiastic attendees, the event highlighted how sustainable landscaping can make a powerful difference in our homes, neighborhoods, and climate.
From learning about drought-tolerant plants to understanding the drawbacks of non-living ground covers like cement or wood chips, participants left with practical tips and a renewed commitment to conservation.
“These workshops show that education truly inspires action,” said Andy Ramirez, BCVWD Board Member. “It’s not just about saving water—it’s about creating beautiful, environmentally beneficial spaces that cool our communities, provide oxygen, and support long-term sustainability. We’re proud to support events that empower residents with the knowledge to make real change.”
The discussion also emphasized the value of reaching out to local water agencies for conservation programs and advice tailored to our region’s unique water challenges. With outdoor water use accounting for nearly two-thirds of residential demand, even small changes like smarter irrigation or switching to native plants can make a big impact.
🙌 Huge thanks to SGPWA for leading the way in community education and sustainable water practices. Together, we’re helping to build a resilient, water-wise future—one landscape at a time.
