Conservation a California Way of Life

As a way to combat California’s frequent droughts, the State Water Board adopted the Making Conservation a California Way of Life regulation, which went into effect January 1st.

These new regulations will require water suppliers like BCVWD to ensure residential and commercial water use is within predetermined parameters based on location, population, and climate.

“We understand the importance of balancing conservation efforts with the needs of our community,: Lona Williams, Board Vice President stated. “This regulation gives us an opportunity to fine-tune our practices to ensure long-term sustainability while respecting the unique characteristics of our region.”

We’re currently evaluating our collective water usage and want to ensure any changes made are thoughtful and tailored towards the community. We anticipate any specific changes in response to this regulation will not be fully operational until 2026 or 2027.
