Protecting Public Infrastructure Is a Shared Responsibility
Public infrastructure often goes unnoticed, until it isn’t there.
Roads.
Streetlights.
Water pipelines.
Fire hydrants.
Each one serves an important purpose in keeping our community safe and functioning every day.
Recently, BCVWD has joined neighboring water agencies in responding to an increase in hydrant thefts. These incidents require emergency repairs, divert public resources, and affect infrastructure that supports emergency response.
Preventing these crimes begins with awareness.
“Protecting public infrastructure isn’t just the responsibility of government agencies,” stated BCVWD Board President Lone Williams. “It takes an informed community working together to preserve the resources that keep all of us safe.”
If you observe suspicious activity involving a fire hydrant or other public water infrastructure, do not approach the individuals involved, report it to local law enforcement. Your quick action may help prevent additional damage and protect important community resources.
To report suspicious activity (non-emergency): Beaumont Police Department at (951) 769-8500
To report a damaged or missing fire hydrant or other water emergency: Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water District at (951) 845-9581, Option 9
Working together, we can help protect the critical infrastructure that keeps our community safe.
