Planning Today for Tomorrow’s Community
When people think about growth in Beaumont and Cherry Valley, they often notice new homes, businesses, warehouses, and community facilities. What many don’t see is the extensive planning and engineering work happening behind the scenes to ensure our water system is prepared to serve that growth.
At the April 23, 2026 Board meeting, BCVWD’s Engineering Department provided an update highlighting the significant volume of development activity currently underway throughout the District’s service area. Engineering staff are actively coordinating dozens of projects at various stages of planning, review, design, and construction. These projects include residential neighborhoods, apartment communities, commercial developments, industrial facilities, churches, and other community-serving projects.
As our community continues to grow, Engineering staff are conducting water supply assessments, hydraulic modeling, fire flow analysis, plan reviews, annexations, construction coordination, and numerous other technical evaluations to ensure new development can be supported while maintaining reliable service for existing customers.
“Reliable water service requires more than pipes and pumps, it requires planning,” said BCVWD Board Member David Hoffman. “The Board appreciates the tremendous amount of work our Engineering and Operations teams perform behind the scenes to support growth, protect system reliability, and make thoughtful use of District resources. Their efforts help ensure new development is integrated responsibly while maintaining the level of service our customers expect.”
Whether reviewing a new residential community, evaluating infrastructure for industrial development, or coordinating construction activities, BCVWD staff play a critical role in preparing for the future while protecting the reliability of today’s water system. While Engineering staff lead much of the planning and technical review process, Operations staff also support development and infrastructure efforts, including completing certain work in-house when practical to help maximize value for ratepayers.
